Chicked was walking through the pine forest, his usual tiredness growing. They hadn't been able to find a good place to make camp for the night in so long, and most of them couldn't hunt, so they had to raid trashcans. They were coming out of twolegplace and into the pine forest when the scent of other cats filled his nose. There were a lot of them, by the smell of it, and they had laid border markers. However, he was too tired to run away. He just stopped, sleep pulling at his eye lids, before sighing and turning to face the rest of the group. Because he had been deaf since he was too young to remember, he never learned to speak, but he deeply inhaled and looked at them with concerned eyes. This was definetely not the place for them, unless these cats ere nice enough to take them in. He tried to turn around and go back where they had come from, but his paws gave way and he sat down in deafeat. Oh, he wanted to sleep so bad, almost as much as he wanted to have ears, and claws. But if they slept here, they would be stolen by twolegs, found by these other cats, or attacked by a fox or badger.

The old black and white cat named Badger slowly dragged himself along following the cat in his group named Chicken barely able to do that, he was so hungry and tired as well as missing a paw he could only drag himself along at a very slow rate and they kept having to stop for him, after a long time to Badger his strength gave out and he was barely able to drag himself now. Badger crawling at the speed of a snail eventually collapsed out of energy recalling his glorious days of youth when he had his own territory, was feared and respected and had plenty of prey. Now he was pitied and couldn't even catch prey after a badger attacked him and ripped off his paw along with slashing it's claws along his side leaving scars to this day. Badger tried to call out for help but all that came out was a small squeak, worrying that a badger or fox would smell him or eat him he tried calling out for help again, this time a louder squeak came out but they were gone in the pine forest, Badger sniffed the air a long time with his barely functioning nose and finally was able to smell a whiff of strange cat scent. New worries started to crowd Badger's head and he somehow found enough energy to drag himself to a pine tree and passed out halfway there.

Joy limped along her companions, left leg barely supporting any weight. Out of all her friends, she had the least of a disability. But like the rest of the group, she couldn't feed or protect herself very well. As they stumbled into a pine forest clearly owned by a strong group of other cats, this fact was ever more present in her mind. Everything was looking bleak at the moment, but Joy was determined to stay strong for her friends. She rested a comforting tail on the mute tom Chicken's shoulder, letting her actions speak where words could not for him. Hopefully, they would be able to hide somewhere safe for the night, even though it was unlikely due to being on strong group of cats' territory.
Lost in thought, Joy didn't hear Badger's weak calls for help. Thus, he collapsed.
When she heard the thump of one of her companions falling to the ground, Joy rushed over to his side as fast as her legs would allow her, buckling here and there in her desperation to reach the exhausted cat's side. "Oh no, Badger!" She awkwardly got herself into a position to rest her head on his flank for a brief moment, listening for a heartbeat. When she felt the slow and sluggish rise and fall of his chest, Joy sighed with relief. No one has died yet. But as his breath staggered, Joy was reminded that death was only rabbit hops away. They needed to do something if they were going to survive.
Raising her head from Badger's pelt, Joy got back up onto her paws and faced the group. "Guys, Badger's breathing but I don't know how much longer he can keep up with this. I don't know how long all of us can anymore." She gave everyone a desperate look. "We need to find help."

Branch walked slowly because of the painfully broken paw that he had because of a bad fall. It was hard for him to walk and even more now that he hadn't eaten for so long. The tomcat looked with weak eyes how Chicken sat down without energy. He sighed, exhausted, looking at the tall pines that were above his heads. This place was surely different from what he knew and that meant new dangers... Branch hoped that this time the luck of his group would change for once and maybe... someone would help them. However, he knew that that was a foolish dream.
He jumped scared by the sudden fall of the old tom called Badger. He tried to follow Joy to help him, but his dumb leg caused that he slipped on the ground, falling without any strength. The tom aimed to stand up again, but his three healthy paws were too weak to even do that. He needed to rest... they all needed help now. His eyes found Joy's and the cat nodded, in agreement. "You're right, Joy." He glanced back at Chicken, putting all his efforts to stand up again in his three paws. "Chicken... you should stay here close to Badger. I and Joy can walk a bit further to see if we can find cats nearby. Maybe... they could help us if they see how we are." Branch approached the she-cat, limping heavily as he moved. "We must be fast as we can, Joy. We must find someone to help Badger..." With that last words, the cat walked forward, trying to enter more in the woods of the tall pines. He meowed with a weak voice, whimpering for help. "Please! Somebody! We know there someone out here! You must help us... our friend is dying!"

Meanwhile, Dawn Streak padded beside her mate through their recently-established tribe's territory. The scent of the pines filled her nose, quickly becoming a comforting smell. Having her first litter of kits had been hard on her, so getting a breather was a blessing like no other. She loved them to bits, but kits were exhausting sometimes. When Tall Pine suggested she go on a patrol with him, Dawn Streak took at the chance for fresh air faster than a cat could say mouse.
Before she could start a conversation with Tall Pine about their kits, the scent of foreign cats invaded her nose. Keeping calm, Dawn Streak followed the scent cautiously, not looking at her mate in her concentrated state of mind. They needed to be cautious of whoever these cats were. Once they drew near, Dawn Streak heard their feint meows asking for help and immediately started forward, boldly stepping forward from the undergrowth to face a them. "Who is it that trespasses on our lands? State your business with us," she stated firmly before she noticed the disability each of the cats possessed. Her sister's image flashed in her mind, the day her sibling died flitting to the forefront when she saw Badger's weak form.

Tall Pine purred by his mate's side, his pelt rubbing against hers. It was lovely to be out together- the warm scent of pine trees, the soft feeling of moss and pine needles on his pads, and the voices of his loved ones made his heart soar. Perhaps, when his young got older, he could take them out to tour the territory. He imagined arriving home, his children in tow with Dawn Streak by his side. And maybe, just maybe there'd be more.
A loud sound snapped him out of his daydream. Instantly the large tom stepped between his group and the strangers, although he quickly saw that there was no need. The cas were sickly, to say the least. "C'mon!" He mewed, urging the rest of the group to help him. They needed help. Immediately. He gently lifted the eldest one, slowly drawing him across his back.
His mind filled with conflict. They needed help, yes, but he could barely feed the trib, let alone strangers. He would let them eat, maybe rest for a short while before coming to a decision. He knew who he would consult on the matter; Dawn Streak, obviously. After all, they ruled together, as a team. The other two took a little more deciding, but eventually the young leader reached a decision. Rock and a kitty pet-turned-Sharpclaw named Rising Stream. Rock was smart, always useful when Tall Pine needed a different perspective . The young tom came up with ingenious ideas and always seemed to think out of the box. Rising Stream was a vivacious she-cat with a helpful attitude. She was energetic but wise beyond her years- an excellent advisor.

Branch looked with his only eye how a group approached them. He felt like tears of happiness could appear in his eye but he shook that feeling away, focusing in the reality. He stepped back a little, scared by the firmly and not friendly words of the she-cat that was in front of the group. With a weak voice, the tom tried to answer her so maybe they could help them. "I-I'm Branch and these are my friends, Joy, Chicken and Badger. I'm s-sorry if we trespassed your territory, but... we need help! Badger is..." Before he continued, the cat was interrupted by the voice of another cat of the group, a large brown tom that approached Badger to help him.
Branch sighed, relieved to see that at least one of them was going to help them. "Thank you so..." His voice cracked as his mind finally failed to work anymore. The light brown tomcat collapsed on the ground, passing out as well the eldest of his group. Now that he knew that these cats were going to give them shelter or at least food, he could finally let his body rest.

Ears flattened in fear when Chicken saw the first she-cat. Dawn Streak seemed scary at first, looking harsh and saying something he couldn't hear. But then he noticed her expression soften, as if remembering something from long ago. He was good at noticing things, it was needed a lot to make up for his lack of hearing sound. But then the tom came and started helping them, and he was to tired to refuse. Forcing himself to his paws, he walked over beside Branch and looked the two cats over. If they could hep them, the maybe he could taste prey again, or finally get soem sleep, or most importantly, Badger would live. He looked at the pair of cats with pleading and desperate eyes, hoping that they would take mercy and help them.

Dawn Streak couldn't keep up a cold facade for long faced with cats who needed their help, especially the kind her sister would've needed if it weren't for the protection Dawn Streak had given her before her disabled sibling passed away. "Alright," she decided, dropping the serious tone for a more compassionate one, "We'll help you recover."
Dropping next to her mate, she helped Tall Pine carry the other cat who passed out, hoping that the others would manage to walk on their own for now. Padding with pine needles crushing into her paws under the extra weight she now carried, Dawn Streak headed with the rest of them towards camp.

"Thank you so much," Joy cried with relief, "We wouldn't have made it another day without you guys' help." She offered a shoulder for Chicken to lean on as they followed the pine forest cats, her heart soaring with the hope that this could be a place to call home. The limping she-cat knew that they weren't very strong, but once they were back to full strength Joy was determined to convince them to stay permanently and repay their debts to their saviors by contributing to the pine cats' group.
