Shadow Feather silently stalked about the camp in hopes of startling someone. It was one of those things that brought her joy in life, and she enjoyed being sneaked up on just as much as she enjoyed inflicting it on others. The startled shouts they so often made was even better, really. Shadow Feather had always been a rather mischievous cat - particularly as a softpaw, when she had not much better to do than find plants that caused itching and hiding them in the nests of certain cats. She had gotten better about it as moons passed, however, and now this was the most common prank she would pull on others. As discontent as she often seemed, however, Shadow Feather was quite happy with her lot in life. Being the healer of the Tribe of Growing Pines was a great honor, and one she valued above all else. In the midst of her hunting for Tribemates, Shadow Feather noticed that the leaves were beginning to fall off of the trees once again. It would be fun to play around with them at any other moment, but now the fallen leaves were merely another obstacle to avoid stepping on, lest she be noticed. Aha! A potential victim! She approached slowly, patiently, and made her way in front of them, hoping it seemed that she had just appeared out of nowhere at all.

Frozen Pool wondered if someone would ever actually chose specific roles. Tall Pine was the leader, and everyone else was a Shjarpclaw or Smallpox depending on their age. And him and a couple others just healed, though they weren't a specific role yet. He sighed. Everything seemed overcrowded, and their leader didn't seem the best at leading. Rising Stream was the only one that saw that everyone could be useful, including someone who hated hunting. She deserved to be leader, not the tom that was currently in charge. His thoughts were interrupted by Shadow Feather, who basically just appeared in front of him without any warning. Why she enjoyed doing that was beyond his understanding. Before he realized what had happened, his lip had curled and he flinched, then rolled his eyes. "Shouldn't you be putting your talent to good use instead of wasting time sneaking up on cats," he growled, though not angrily.

"I don't see anyone in need of assistance at the moment," Shadow Feather replied, laughter bubbling up in her throat. "Unless you require any." There was a twinkle in her eye as she looked at Frozen Pool. He wasn't particularly friendly, but she didn't mind that. He shared her knowledge of healing, and she considered him a friend for that reason alone. "You don't, do you?" she added, unsure. She was younger, and less experienced, so she looked up to the others who shared her passions, but she knew her pawsteps faltered more often than theirs.

"Of course you don't," he replied, huffing loudly. His eyes narrowed and he refrained from growling at her laugh. What did she find so funny about this situation? Though he had gotten used to cats getting all happy for no reason, it didn't make it any more bearable. He had learned that there was always something to be worried about, even if you couldn't see it. Hidden troubles were the worst kind. He snorted slightly when she asked if he needed assistance. He could treat himself if that was needed. Though she knew more than most of the ignorant cats that filled the tribe, she still had less experience than him. Definitely less experiences with failure. "No, I would have treated myself if I needed anything. But there is always something you can do, whether prepare for assisting someone or making sure everyone is okay." He said nothing else, just narrowed his eyes and stood up. He might as well do something now.

Echo Wish went to go find Shadow Feather to ask her about something but ended up listening to her and Frozen Pool's conversation from afar. Echo Wish narrowed his eyes but he knew the older tom had a point but he hoped that Frozen Pool didn't see Shadow Feather as any less or incapable to do her duties.
He stepped out of the shadows and made his way to them. "Hello Shadow Feather, Frozen Pool" the cream-colored tom bowed his head respectfully. He treated them both with respect as if he were a softpaw. He wasn't much older than a softpaw, only being 15 moons old, but he knew many things since he raised himself.
The she-cat and tom before him were more experienced than him so he learned by observing his clan-mates. "What are you two doing here?" he asked them with his head tilted.

Shadow Feather smiled as Echo Wish approached. She liked the younger tom, mostly because he wasn't nearly as prickly as Frozen Pool. "Hello, Echo Wish. I was just playing, and I suppose I got too distracted from what I should have been doing. I'll leave you be, Frozen Pool," she added, dipping her head respectfully and turning to face the younger cat. "Is there something you need, Echo Wish?" she asked, unsure if she should have waited for him to ask for himself. Perhaps he would rather have Frozen Pool's opinion on whatever it was his question - or concern - was.
