The first snowflakes covered the ground of the camp, announcing the arrival of the Time of the Frozen Water. The breeze getting each day colder and soon, the prey would be scarce. The sun was starting to appear between the high pines when a large and fluffy she-cat left the den, looking for his tribemates with a serious and cold expression. She wasn't happy at all about what she was going to do. She knew that Tall Pine's decision was wrong in every single way but she couldn't help to follow it because he was the leader. However... one day, she thought, this was going to change.
Consumed by her dark thoughts, Rising Stream called for Oak Leaf, Misty Frost and Small Fire, announcing that it was to do what they had to do. "Oak Leaf! Misty Frost! Small Fire! We must escort Branch, Chicken, Badger, and Joy today, so woke up already and get yourselves something to eat. I'm going to search for them and ask Frozen Pool for the herbs that we need for our travel." Saying that the Sharpclaw walked to the place where the prey was and picked up four small mouses by its tail. She approached the den where the four disabled cats were recovering and entered it. The she-cat put the four rodents in front of them and looked at them with sad and sorry eyes. "Good morning... I wish this was a good morning for you actually. I'm so sorry that you have to leave the camp in such a rough season and I wish I could something else for you but... I'm not the leader and I don't make the decisions here. I really do everything I could to help you, guys... I wish it was enough to change Tall Pine's decision..." Her green eyes looked away from the four cat. She felt guilty and bad because of what she had to do... even if it wasn't her desire. With her ears flattened, the large silver cat turned away, too sad to continue being by their side. "We will wait for you in the center of the camp to leave. Please eat so you can have enough strength and energy for our travel."
Rising Stream left the den, with a chest full of pain. She walked looking down to her paws touching the cold snow, approaching to her next objective of the day. She sat down in front of Frozen Pool when she glanced him. "Hi, Frozen Pool... I think that... you know why I'm here, right?" She said, glancing back to the den where the four cats were eating their last food before they left forever.

Oak Leaf opened his green eyes when he heard the voice of the she-cat who was going to lead the patrol. Stretching his muscled paws, the red furred tom left the den, smiling when he saw the white snow that covered the trees and the ground. He walked to the caught-prey pile and picked up a small bird to eat before he left, just like Rising Stream said. It was going to be a long journey so he had to walk with a full belly.
He quickly finished his meal and searched for the leader of the patrol, who was talking to that grumpy cat called Frozen Pool, probably getting the herbs they needed. The Sharpclaw yawned and then stood up to wait for the rest of the group. He didn't have any doubts about Tall Pine's choice. He knew he was right and he hadn't any hint of regrets about what he was going to do. This had to be made if they wanted to survive; the Tribe always must come first over everything.
------------
The cat looked at Rising Stream with his only eye, listening to her words sadly. After she finished, Branch nodded to her and smiled a bit. "Thank you for everything, Rising Stream. I know that you have no blame in this and at least me, I'll always remember you as kind-hearted she-cat." He purred as she left the den, leaving him alone with his three friends. The brown tom looked at the mouse in front of him with darkened eyes. This was the last he would be here, eating with his friends before they were going to be abandoned in the Twolegplace. He looked at his friends, flicking his tail nervously. "I guess... this is it all, right? How do you feel, guys?" His questions was asking for their physical health as well as their mentally situation about their depature from the Tribe's camp.
