Frozen Pool hadn't wanted to get into an argument that day. The best days were the days were when nobody talked to him, unless they needed to be treated and give him the respect that he deserved. But as soon as Morning Mist started verbally attacking their leader unprovoked, he knew that he had to jump in. Though the Smallpaw was actually right in his opinion, that was no way to address the issue. If you started angrily yelling general insults, everyone would think you were the stupid one. You had to use insults that made them actually feel bad, and sneer it in a sarcastic tone. The Healer was pretty much a master at arguing, if he said so himself. He padded a few paces closer to where the small tom was kicking dirt at Tall Pine. "Though I agree with every word you said, Morning Mist, that is no way to talk to your elders," he scolded, not quite managing to suppress a smirk. Turning to the leader, he continued. "Though this smallpox was being extremely rude, I suggest you take what he said into account. Even though you can't change what you did in the past, you can make the right decision in the future. Even if that means letting Rising Stream take leadership." ---------------------------------- Rock had been snoozing in the Sharpclaw den when he heard the angry shouts of what seemed to be a smallpaw. For a moment, he wondered if he was still dreaming, then as he opened his eyes and still heard the insults, he realized that it was all too real. Running out of the den, he saw Morning Mist kicking dirt into Tall Pine's face. He had expected something like this, though he had predicted it would be a sharpclaw attacking their leader, not a smallpaw. Before he could do anything, a Healer approached him and scolded him, though then started insulting the leader as well. This was what he had feared for a long time, ever since he had first met Rising Stream. He had a plan ready for when this happened, but this was starting too soon. He didn't move, mentally going through all of his possible options. Knowing he should say something, he asked a rather silly question. "What's going on?" ---------------------------------- Stormy Night had been with the other Smallpaws outside the nursery when one of them suddenly took it upon himself to be cruel to her father. Before she could even think, instinct caused her to sprint towards him, tripping once but then getting up again. She let out a hiss of fury that was usually never heard from a smallpaw as she sprinted forward, her clumsy kit-like legs causing her to trip many times. Because of that, the healer got to the pair before she did, and he too began scolding Tall Pine. That just made her even more determined to get there. Once she was finally close enough, she leapt onto Morning Mist, her tiny claws barely penetrating his fur. It didn't feel strange to her to be doing this, she was defending her tribe. "You do not insult my father like that!" she spat, hitting her opponent repeatedly. "You're a flea bitten mange-pelt!"

Tall Pine huffed, giving the small kit a gentle cuff on the ears -customary treatment for a disobedient kit- and glowered over him before shaking off the excess dirt.
He turned to Frozen Pool, his whiskers twitching. Frozen Pool was a very wise tom, and he trusted his opinion. Still, he couldn't let that stand. "I understand where your coming from, but I have to disagree. My father lead us. His father lead us. All my ancestors have lead us, and I will lead us. It is the will of the Star Cats above. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be alive today-"
His words were cut short as one of his daughters, Stormy Night, raced at Morning Mist. Wordlessly, he pulled the two apart. "Morning Mist, go clean the Sharpclaw's den. Make it spotless. Stormy Night... go inside the nursery. Stay there until I say you may leave." He sighed, flicking his ears to acknowledge Rock before turning back to the Softpaws. "I thought you two were better than this. Fighting is no way to settle your problems."
Small Fire approached, giving Tall Pine a respectful nod and glancing at Rock. He needed to find a way to lighten up the situation. "Anyone fancy a hunt? The prey's running well today, I've heard..."

Fox's pelt walked up to his father with wide eyes. He looked up at Tall Pine with a quizzed expression. "Why is Morning Mist so mad? Did you do something to him?"
Before Tall Pine could answer Amber Dawn ran up to her sibling with a tired expression. "Of couse he didn't mouse-brain. Morning Mist has just been causing trouble for no reason." she replied with her nose high. "Right father?" she asked.
Misty Frost walked up to Small Fire. "I'd like to join." She nervously looked around the tense camp. The smallpaw had been right in some parts but that didn't mean he could insult the leader.

"Yes, Tall Pine, sooner or later I'll get out of here . . . all his stupid kits always get love." Morning Mist grumbled heading off to the dullclaw den.
Fallen Shadow walked into camp with a thrush and 2 mice. "Lots of prey out today, whats going on?"

"Just because your father was a good leader doesn't mean that you are. And I have to say, the Star Cats don't control everything. They do have more power than any of us, but that soesn't mean they would kill off a bad leader. The only reason I stay in this group is because I was born here and have survived here, but the moment I doubt my safety I will leave, and I don't think that will be too far in the future. For now, I will stay here, but that doesn't mean that I like having to listen to you," Frozen Pool responded, a creepy coolness lacing his words. After finishing, his lip rose up slightly for a moment, not a gesture of aggression, but of defiance. Narrowing his eyes, he turned his back on the tabby tom, growling inaudibly as he padded back towards his den. He was in an even worse mood now, and any cat who dared talk to him after that would be forced to face his frustration in anger. --------------------------------------------------------------- Rock sighed with relief when he saw Tall Pine's reaction. It was just a naughty smallpaw and a grumpy healer, that was all. He felt his fur growing hot with embarrasment that he had assumed that it was something more. He was probably just getting paranoid because of how the leader had treated the disabled rogues, and now he was looking for even the tiniest hint of rebellion. Still, the thought in his mind lingered that if this had been a respected Sharpclaw, it wouldn't have been as easily resolved. Hearing Small Fire offer a hunt, he decided to join to clear his mind. It would be good to get out of camp for a while. Padding over to the small group, he nodded o Misty Frost. "I'll join to, if that's alright." --------------------------------------------------------------- Stormy Night snarled and hissed in response to Morning Mist's insult, and huffed in frustration when he flipped her over. She needed to protect her tribe no matter what, and she couldn't do that if she was pinned down like an idiot! Snarling, she hit a paw against his head, and almost had enough leverage to push him over when Tall Pine interfered. As soon as her father started to pull her off of the other smallpaw, she got up and looked expectantly at him, waiting for his instructions. She smiled when he scolded the tom next to her, he deserved it for treating her and her father like that. But her ears flattened when he scolded her too. "Okay, father. I'll leave now. I was just tring to defend my tribe like you would, that's all." She turned her back and walked away, ignoring Morning Mist's words. She wished that she could have found a better way to put the traitor in his place. As her sibling passed by, she nodded to them. "Yeah, Morning Mist is a traitor and a jerk. He just wants to cause trouble to make dad look bad."
